Description

The TEC112706 (TEC1-12706) is a solid-state thermoelectric cooling module that uses the Peltier effect to create a temperature differential across its two ceramic surfaces.

The module consists of Bismuth Telluride (BiTe) semiconductor junctions arranged between two thermally conductive ceramic plates. When a DC current passes through the module:

  • One side becomes cold (absorbs heat).
  • The opposite side becomes hot (dissipates heat).
  • Reversing the polarity swaps hot and cold sides.

The TEC112706 can be used for both cooling and heating applications. Its performance depends on proper heat sinking, airflow, and stable current control. Exceeding voltage/current limits can damage the module, so regulation is essential.

It provides high thermal performance for compact designs and is widely used in cooling electronics, laboratory setups, portable refrigeration, and precision temperature control.
